What Customers Say About The Clapper Sound Activated On/Off Switch, 1 Each:

Weird crap turns it on. There is no clapping required, it runs about half the price, and it is not a bulky white 70's looking thing hanging from the wall. I purchased one of these for my fiance for our bedroom so we could kill the lights after we read bedtime stories without getting out of bed. Shamefully I had to read the manual. It was just marketed for the tree lights. I don't know if it is the acoustics in our room or what but it is a rare occasion that it "Clap On Clap Off"s. Not so much.

It plugs into the outlet and therefore can be used with anything. Also, in the morning right after you wake up: not the best time for 1- loud noise 2- clapping or 3- trying to time those claps in any way shape or form.My advice; pay the extra and get the one with the remote, get a string, and tether the remote somewhere handy so you wont lose it.My better advice; thought there is no clapping feature, there is a similar device my mom introduced me to this last holiday; a remote control on/off switch for the x-mas tree lights.

Evidently, you have to have solid, loud, and perfectly spaced claps. Another time, it activated from bed-noise during review-censored activities.

We both were pretty excited about this doohickey. The first night we tried it out, we couldn't even get it to turn on. Sometimes a couple of coughs will do it.

I'm not sure the name of it, but with a little hunting, I'm sure it is easily found. Big guy no-no.

One would think that something so touchy to turn on would have no problem staying off, right.

So, its a waste for me. It Claps on and off OK, but when it's off, the light blinks periodically.

Only thing it turns lights off sometimes when we didn't even clap. I actually bought this for my Mom and then she and my brother changed their minds. I don't trust it not to turn lights back on in the middle of the nite, so been unplugging it. some other noise in the house triggered it. So I have it now. It works quite well, we plugged our Christmas tree lights into it.

My prized Buddy Greco Live at The Sands CD, with frequent applause, is especially problematic. Apparently, The Clapper can't distinguish between real and recorded hand claps. When I play "Hey Mickey" by Toni Basil or "We Got the Beat" by The Go-Go's, the boombox shuts off. I connected The Clapper to my bedroom "boombox," with wonderful results. I've yet to make it through Buddy's "weather report" section ("Sunshine Day," "Windy," and "Rainy Day"). It's very handy and, dare I say, luxurious. I can clap my favorite music on or off without getting out of bed. There's just one small problem.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The basic clapper, seems to be a bit finicky to work with.
